Tell us a bit about you!

I'm Andy, a dreamer, an overthinker, a little overwhelmed by the challenges facing mankind but overall, an optimist filled with gratitude for all the good people trying to do good in this world. I like meditating, playing football, dance music, chatting nonsense over a beer and long walks in the country. I like people that can laugh at themselves and admire people that campaign endlessly for what’s right despite being ridiculed and ignored.

I oscillate between action and wanting to hide in the wilderness. And most of all I am grateful to the fantastic team that keep plugging away and making Bamboo bobbi a success.

What’s your roll in the company?

I am the founder, I had a big dream that an organisation could operate like a business without making money, making its sole purpose to help fix issues in the world. Bamboo Bobbi is an attempt to prove that this can be done!

Why do you like working for Bamboo Bobbi?

Work without purpose can be a bit soul destroying, Bamboo Bobbi has all the elements of business, but the result is helping people and making an environmental difference. The people responsible for making Bamboo Bobbi are lovely, as are those behind the S6 Food Bank. The close engagement with S6 is a big part of the enjoyment too. 

Do you have a favourite Bobbi moment or event?

I like going to events and seeing the perplexed look on people’s faces as we chase them with our toilet rolls, keen to spread the gospel of Bamboo Bobbi!

I also loved going to a partner event at S6 Food Bank and hearing the wonderful, personal stories of the people they have helped.

Any companies doing good you’d like to shout out?

The obvious one is Patagonia, who seem to have never sold out their principles and have ultimately created an organisation that does more good than harm it causes. I love that they’ve encouraged the 1% movement and got more companies thinking about giving back.
