Raising Money for S6 Food Bank
What a day!
8 Slightly unprepared volunteers!
Just over 20 kilometres.
What could go wrong?
We ran. We sweated. We just about survived.
Last month, a bunch of us volunteers took on the Round Sheffield Run to raise funds (and a few heart rates) for S6 Food Bank. Because helping people eat is way more important than looking cool in running gear!
It was 23 degrees, 70% humidity, and not even the slightest breeze to give us a break. Casey from the warehouse – who usually spends his days shifting loo roll like a pro – still hasn’t quite recovered. Poor lad. But despite the hills, heat, and the general sense of why are we doing this to ourselves, we actually had a brilliant time.
The run loops right round our lovely Sheffield, so we got to soak in the views while championing a cause close to our hearts. We might not have been the fastest, but we made it round, powered by stubbornness, snacks, and the knowledge that every penny we raise is donated to someone who needs it.
If you'd like to support S6 Food Bank, their fundraiser’s still open. Or, if you want to support something closer to home, most food banks take online donations too. Every little bit helps.
We’ll keep doing our bit, one bamboo bum wipe at a time.
